We headed up to the Scugog Shores Heritage Center to journey to the warmth of the Middle East and explore its ancient past and the palaces of the Assyrians. We learned about the great palaces, built almost 3000 years ago were not just homes for their kings, but gathering places for their armies, store houses for their tribute, and political propaganda against their enemies. They have another interesting Lecture coming up on February 12, you can find out more on their web site www.scugogshoresmuseum.com/
We also went to the Oshawa Permanent Blood Clinic on Harmony and Taunton in Oshawa. You can make a donation there Thursdays through Saturdays to give back to someone in need of blood or blood products. Every 60 seconds in Canada someone needs a blood donation-so what better why to give back then to sit for 15 minutes and donate? You even get cookies and juice as a reward. Call 1888-2-Donate for more info and to book a time.
If you have an event you think we should know about - drop me a line at laura@ckdo.ca
