This is it! The last week of 2009. Unbelievable really that it’s gone by so fast but it really has. I’ll prepare you … this may be a bit sappy for some, but what can I say we’re allowed every once in a while. I find that with the New Year along comes hope. Hope for a better year, hope that the year will be everything you wished for and more.
I’m looking forward to the new year with the hope that it will unveil an economy that doesn’t leave so many out in the cold. I hope that the New Year is met safely and that those who choose to make a party of it arrive home safely. My message is always plan ahead, drinking and driving just doesn’t pay. I hope the inevitable footprint of tragedy is limited. Around the world there were enough natural disasters from tornadoes, to typhoons and earthquakes to hope for a calmer storm season in 2010. I hope that Canada’s light shines brightly with the Olympics in Vancouver.
My daughter has a book and on each page is the poem Star light; star bright first star I see tonight …” followed by a wish. Several of which are so simple and yet have so much meaning… one page is that everyone has food to eat; another a family to love and another that everyone could run free. So simple and yet those few lines especially voiced by a child just have such an impact. So with my first wish of the New Year, I wish everyone a very happy new year and that all your wishes come true.
