2nd Annual Harvest Festival
Simcoe Ave & The Queensway South, Keswick - Sep 18, 2010
Come enjoy a great family day and fundraiser at the 2nd Annual Harvest Festival! There will be a custom/antique car show, a motorbike display and parade, fiddlers, pony rides, lots of activities for the kids, a silent auction, breakfast and a lunch BBQ, vendor's market, chaotic exotics (a reptile & small critter zoo), dance demonstrations and so much more! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The James Fund for Neuroblastoma Research, on behalf of Kyle Wells who is a young boy in the Keswick area suffering from this disease. Visit the Labatt Family Heart Centre BioBank for Family Education today, and see one of Wyatt Warrior's leaders, Laura Celsie speak at 11:30AM about her son Wyatt and her family's experience at SickKids, and the Foundation. Tickets must be reserved, and are done so on a first come first served basis. There is no fee, and this is geared to anyone 15 and up, looking to learn more about Congenital Heart Defects (CHD's), research, treatments, the future of them and more. Corporate Challenge day is a fun filled day of physical activity! Teams participate in games such as the tractor pull, obstacles course, ball tosses and golf putting. But this isn't your regular games day, there is a twist to all of these games and it is not the Olympics! The goal of the day is to raise money for the Canadian Hearing Society and provide awarness of CHS' services while encouraging health and fitness. Registration begins at 9AM, the games begin at 10AM. The Terry Fox Run has been going on in Canada for 30 years! When Terry Fox recognized that he would not be able to complete his Marathon of Hope for cancer research in 1980, he bequeathed his mission to his fellow Canadians and The Terry Fox Run began. In keeping with the approach of its founder, this year's run on September 19th is a volunteer-led event, all-inclusive, non-competitive, with no pre-registration, entry fees or fundraising minimums.
