Time is quickly running out for the Oshawa Generals as they fight for a playoff spot. The Generals have 3 games left in the regular season, Wednesday against the Bulls in Belleville, Friday, against the 67's in Ottawa and Saturday, against the Petes in Peterborough. The Eastern Conference standings are as follows... 6-Peterborough - 58 pts - 2 games left 7-Niagara - 57 pts - 3 games left 8-Sudbury - 56 pts - 3 games left 9-Oshawa - 53 pts - 3 games left
This week, Peterborough plays Sudbury and Oshawa, Niagara plays Mississauga twice and Belleville and Sudbury plays Peterborough, Kingston and Ottawa.
MAJOR LEAGUE HOCKEY - PLAYOFFS
The Whitby Dunlops will be moving on to the MLH final, after a 6-2 win over the Vipers in Norwood on Tuesday. The loss, essentially ended the Vipers season as they are now out of reach, of both Whitby and Dundas in the round-robin playoff standings. The Dunnies and Real McCoys will square off in a best-of-7 series for the title, however the schedule is yet to be determined.
JUNIOR "A" PLAYOFFS
The Bowmanville Eagles are getting set to face the Wellington Dukes in the East Final. Game 1, in the best-of-7 series goes Thursday, at the Rickard Rec Complex in Bowmanville. This is a battle of the top 2 teams from the regular season, as the Eagles finished in first, and the Dukes in 2nd. Both teams are coming off 7 game series in the division semi-finals. The winner of this series will square off with the winner of the West Final, between Burlington and Newmarket.
NHL
There are just 5 games on Wednesday's schedule, and only 1 Canadian team in action. The Vancouver Canucks are wrapping up their marathon 14-game road trip, with a stop in Phoenix, to face the Coyotes. Vancouver was forced to hit the road, to make way for the winter games. The Canucks are 8-5 on the trip so far.
The Maple Leafs, who got a huge overtime win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night, are off until Thursday, when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning. Toronto's still sitting in last place in the eastern Conference, with just 16 games left in the regular season.
NBA
The Toronto Raptors are back on the hardcourt Wednesday, as they take on the Kings in Sacramento. Toronto lost by just 2 points to the powerhouse lakers, in LA on Tuesday night. The Raptors have just 1 win in their last 7 games, falling to 6th place in the Eastern Conference, just 1 game up on Charlotte and Miami and a game and a half ahead of 9th place Chicago.
NLL
The Toronto Rock have hit a bit of a slide, having lost 3 in a row. Toronto is now in 2nd place in the East, at 6-4. The Rock are gearing up for their next game scheduled for this Friday, at home against the Buffalo Bandits.
MLB - SPRING TRAINING
The Blue Jays are sitting atop the Grapefruit League standings with a record of 5-1. Toronto's tied with Tampa Bay, as the Rays are also at 5-1. The Blue Jays are off Tuesday and will face the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, the Houston Astros on Friday and the Atlanta Braves on Saturday and Sunday.
